DONALD BRUCE TEMPLIN
Donald Bruce "Fantastic" Templin, age 72, of Marysville, died Monday, June
5, 2000, at Mount Carmel Medical Center following an extended illness.
He was the owner of the Diamond and Gold Exchange in downtown Marysville.
He attended the
University of Kentucky and was a graduate of Lutheran
Brothers School
of Business in Kentucky. He was a former court reporter for
Faith County, Ky., and a former service representative for National Cash
Register in
Dayton. He also was an associate of McBee Business Systems in
Cleveland and in 1962, opened Templin Typewriter Company on Fifth Street in
Marysville.
A longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Marysville, he served
as elder, deacon and trustee and assisted as an usher and audiovisual
technician. He was also a member of the Thursday Men's Bible Study.
He was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 1130
where he was initiated in 1971. He served as Exalted Ruler from 1973 to
1975 and was the lodge chaplain for many years. He was the District Deputy
for the South Central District from 1980-81 and was the Elk's state
cerebral palsy fund grant chairman. He was previously named Elk of the Year
and was a member of the Elks Hall of Fame and an honorary life member.
He was a member and past president of the local American Red Cross chapter,
was a past board member for United Way of Union County and a charter member
of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge # 1651 and Eagles  Lodge, Aerie 3506, in
which he held various offices.
He was born
December 15, 1927, in Paris, Ky., to the late Thomas Terah and
Martha McClure Templin. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by
his stepfather,
Vernon Walters; brothers, Thomas Terah and Beverly Templin;
a sister, Fandora Templin Landerer, a niece, Martha Granville Landerer; and
a brother-in-law, Walter Carlos Landerer.
He is survived by a sister-in-law, Annie Templin; nieces, Louise Templin,
Mary Ann Templin and Rosita Marie Landerer Vance; nephews, Charles Templin,
Michael Templin, Walter Carlos (Cindy) Landerer II and Lucio Terah (Cindy)
Landerer; great nieces and nephews, Sally (Chris) Custer, Walter Carlos
Landerer III, Monica Vance (Matt) Goodfellow, Nathaniel Vance, Vilisity
(Richard) Stow, Kristin Landerer, Jennica Landerer, Joseph Landerer, Chris
Banks and Connie Banks; great- great-nieces and -nephews Kassidy Custer,
Alexandra Stow, Jacob Stow, Marissa Banks, Breanna Spurlock and Shalee
Spurlock; special friends  Connie Russell, Ruth Ann Ropp and Rodney and
Rynecia Norris; and many relatives in Kentucky.
A fraternal memorial service open to membrs of the community will be held
at
7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Marysville Elks Lodge.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of
Marysville, Elks National Foundation, Elks Cerebral Palsy Fund or the
American Red Cross,
Union County Chapter.
