A graveside service for C. Afton Branson Templin, 98, of Alva, will be Saturday in AlvaMunicipalCemetery. The Rev. Larry Justice will officiate.
Arrange-ments are by Wharton Funeral Chapel, Alva.
She was born Jan. 11, 1908, on the family homestead northwest of Burlington to
Della Vaught and Charles M. Branson and died June 3, 2006, at Johnson Memorial
Hospital in Franklin, Ill.
She moved to Alva with her family in August 1917 where she attended AlvaPublic Schools, graduating in 1924. She was a member of FirstBaptistChurch, Alva, and GraceUnitedMetho-distChurch of Franklin. She attended NorthwesternNormalCollege and received her teaching certificate in
1927. She taught in the Alva school system. She received her bachelor of arts
degree from Northwestern
State College in 1932.
She married Frank M. Templin in Lucien. They moved to Goodland, Ill.,
and Lafayette, Ind.,
and Indianapolis. She sang in the choir and played violin
and piano. Following retirement, they moved to Alva in 1968 and returned to Franklin in 1971. He died July 6, 1985.
Surviving are two sons, Joel B. of Veronia, Ore.,
and Frank C. of Arlington
