ALICE TEMPLIN TAVIS
SUNNYSIDE, WA
– Mrs. Alice E. Tavis, 71, of Sunnyside died Monday April 22, 1974 in a local nursing home.
Mrs. Tavis was born July
25, 1902, at Sunnyside, where her father homesteaded near Lichty.
She was the first white baby born in Sunnyside, and she was born the same year
Sunnyside was named. She had lived in Grandview
before returning to Sunnyside in 1942. Mrs. Tavis was a member of the First
Church of the Brethren.
Survivors include two sons, Robert W. Tuttle of Seattle
and Sidney D. Tuttle of Sunnyside; four sisters, Mrs. Frances Higgins of Edmonds,
Mrs. Edith McCallum of Sunnyside, Mrs. Margaret Guckert of Yakima and Mrs.
Irene Candee of Pasco; four brothers, Ralph Templin of North Bend, Lyle Templin
of Yakima, Fred Templin of Royal City and Don Templin of Mabton; six
grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
